Week of September 13 - September 16

We worked on making our opening sentences sound like music.  Ms. Nickow made us write our opening sentences seven times with different constraints each time.  We had to use alliteration and similes (look back at the opening for this post), quotes, questions, and proper nouns.  Usually, we write a first sentence and don't think twice.   This time, we spent almost twenty minutes trying to make our opening perfect.  We spent time in the computer lab and worked in groups to begin peer editing our personal statements and college essays.  Today (Friday) we also had our first writing journal entry.  We will be writing in our journals three times each week.
